Riding with RDA Oakford is both fun and therapeutic and RDA Oakford is all about helping others.
Riding
People with any disability who
would benefit from therapeutic or recreational
riding are welcome. Categories of disability include physical, intellectual, psychological and social difficulties, and a medical certificate is required.
Apart from acquiring general horse knowledge
and riding skills, riders also take part in special
horseback exercises designed to develop both
physical and intellectual skills.
RDA Oakford CoachesĀ possess professional skills in the areas of Disability, Horse Management, and Coaching Riders with Disabilities, and are recognised as Qualified Coaches by the National Riding for the Disabled Association.
If would like to enjoy all that horse riding has to offer then please contact us today. Bookings are essential.
Volunteering
Volunteers are an essential part of our program, without people willing to share some of their time and enthusiasm we would be unable to offer the services we do.
Volunteers can be aged from 14 years old to 84 years old. As long as you are willing to help, we will be able to put you to use.
Some of the jobs we need volunteers for are:
Leading horses around the arena with the riders, people to side walk some of the more unbalanced riders
Saddling and grooming horses as well as feeding and mucking out stables
We also need people who could do some gardening or maintenance work, people who would like to join in a committee etc.
There is something for everyone. All volunteers who are 18 years and older must have a Working with Children Check which we have available at our centre.
Volunteers have the opportunity to meet people and associate with others who are less fortunate and go home knowing they have made a difference (even for a short time) in someoneās life.
We are always looking for new volunteers, so if you have a few hours to spare and you would like to become part of our RDA centre, please contact us today.
